This series of videos show how to use the STELR sustainable housing packs to teach about heat transfer.

This STEM education resource is designed to engage students in learning about heat transfer by convection, conduction and radiation as well as the thermal properties of matter. It uses the context of designing a low energy home to explore these concepts. The inquiry-based and hands-on learning program engages and challenges both students and teachers. Career profiles encourage students to understand the use and influence of science.

This resource is best suited to Year 9 Physics students but can be modified for use in Years 7-10 and senior secondary investigations.

Biologist and science communicator, Lee Constable uses the STELR Sustainable House kit to investigate the impact of blade angle, blade length and the number of blades on the power generation.

Watch along from home or school, analyse results and complete the activities, even if you don’t have access to the equipment.
