Across the globe, countries are figuring out how to bring plants and animals back to abandoned mines. With as many as 60,000 such sites, Australia could offer important lessons. This interesting article looks at how we can reverse the negative impact humans have on an ecosystem when abandoning mine sites, instead of leaving them as a scar on the landscape. Could be used alongside the Biological Sciences curriculum for Years 6, 7 or 9.
